OBC Scholarship is one of the most effective educational scholarships offered by the Government of India. Under this program, the government invites applications from eligible students of Other Backward Classes (OBC). This scholarship is known as the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Scholarship Scheme. Applications for this program are accepted through the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Eligibility Criteria for OBC Scholarship
Under this OBC scholarship programme, two categories are eligible to submit applications. These two categories are Pre-matric and Post-matric. The eligibility criteria differ for both the categories. Category wise eligibility details for application are given below:
Pre-matric Scholarship: Students of class 10 and below fall under the pre-matric scholarship category. This means that students in grades 1 to 10 should submit their application under the "Pre-Matric Scholarship" category.
Post-matric Scholarship: Students in grades 11 and above should apply under the "Post-matric Scholarship" category, meaning students pursuing high school, graduate or any other higher education program should apply under this category.
Annual Household Income: Candidates with an annual household income of less than 2.5 million are eligible for this scholarship program.
How do I apply for an OBC Scholarship?
Starting from the 2024-2025 academic year, the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) has introduced a One-Time Registration Process (OTR) for students. As a result, the process of submitting an online application for an OBC Scholarship has been revised and divided into two major phases. In the first phase, students will have to complete the One-Time Registration (OTR). In the second phase, students will submit their scholarship application using their OTR ID.
One Time Registration (OTR)
In the first phase, students will have to complete the One Time Registration (OTR) which is currently available on the portal. Once the One Time Registration (OTR) is completed, students will receive an OTR ID. This unique OTR ID can be used to submit applications for various scholarships. It is important to note that each student will receive only one OTR ID and it is generated separately for each student.
Requirements for OTR: Candidates must have a valid mobile number.
Aadhaar Requirements: Aadhaar is mandatory for One Time Registration (OTR). If a student has not yet been allotted an Aadhaar number, they can complete the registration process using their Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID). For minor students who have not yet been allotted an Aadhaar number, they can complete the registration using their parent/guardian's Aadhaar number.
Scholarship Application Form Students who receive their Unique Enrolment ID (OTR) can submit their applications for various scholarship programmes including OBC scholarships. As of now, the application process for scholarships under the revised procedure has not yet commenced. Hence, our knowledge regarding the application process is limited. As the application process has changed from this year, we will update the relevant details in this section only after the official notification.
